LG G2 Mini to get Lollipop this June

LG has confirmed that Android 5.0 Lollipop will be available for the LG G2 Mini this June. The company's Greece subsidiary gave out the info in response to a comment on its official Facebook page. The bigger LG G2 received the update back in January this year, and now, its shrunk down version, the G2 Mini, is going to get the same update.

LG to release a new flagship smartphone in the second half of 2015

Back in March, LG CEO, Cho Jun-ho, was quoted as saying that the company planned to "release a smartphone that will stand above the G-series." Now, according to Focus Taiwan, an LG official has confirmed that such a smartphone exists and is scheduled for release in the second half of 2015. However, the said official mentions that the hardware specifications of the smartphone have not yet been finalized, so things could change in the end.

LG unveils the G4c (G4 Mini) and G4 Stylus

LG has unveiled two G4 smartphones, the G4c (G4 Mini) and the G4 Stylus. Both smartphones belongs to the budget segment and thus features specs that are far less good than that of the original G4.

The G4c is the G4 Mini that we told you about before. It features a 5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 720 x 1280p, powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal storage, 8-MP rear camera, 5-MP front camera and a 2540mAh battery. It supports 4G LTE and runs Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box. The G4c will be availability globally starting later this month, in three colors: Shiny Gold, Ceramics White, and Metallic Gray.

The G4 Stylus on the other hand features a 5.7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 720 x 1280p, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal storage, a Rubberdium Stylus pen, 5-MP front camera and a 3000mAh battery. The 3G version is powered by an octa-core 1.4 GHz MediaTek SoC and comes with an 8-MP rear camera, while the LTE version is powered by a quad-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm SoC and comes with a 13-MP rear camera. It will be release globally this month along side the G4c in two colors: Metallic Silver and Floral White.

Global availability of the LG G4 begins this week

LG has announced that its flagship smartphone, the G4, will start rolling out around the globe this week. According to LG, the rollout will continue throughout the month into June and beyond and the first country to get it will be  Hong Kong, followed by Turkey, Russia and Singapore. The rollout will later proceed to most of Europe, North America, CIS and South/Central America. The Korean manufacturer has partnered with up to 180 carriers and retailers to offer the device.

Key features of the LG G4 includes: 16-megapixel rear camera featuring a rare F1.8 aperture lens, OIS, CSS, and a new Manual Mode. 8-megapixel front-facing camera with gesture support. 5.5-inch Vivid IPS Quantum display which offers 20% greater colors reproduction, 25% improvement in brightness and 50% greater contrast. The G4 is also the first smartphone to make use of the Snapdragon 808 SoC with X10 LTE for the best balance of performance and power savings and Quick charge 2.0 (enabled with Quick Charge 2.0 certified adapter, sold separately). It has a user replaceable 3,000mAh battery.

Prices for the smartphone will be announced locally at the time of availability.

LG's new Windows phone smartphone is now available at Verizon

We've all heard rumors of LG's upcoming Windows phone smartphone, and how it will incorporate low-end specs. Now, the Korean manufacturer has made the device available at Verizon Wireless, that is, it is up for pr-order from the carrier right now and should go on sale on May 21. It cost $120 off contract or $19 on a two-year contract.

For those who aren't in the know, the device is dubbed LG Lancet and runs Windows phone 8.1. It has low-end specs, like a 4.5-inch LCD display with a resolution of 480 x 854p, Snapdragon 410 chipset clocked at 1.2GHz, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal storage, microSDXC support (up to 128 GB), 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2100mAh battery. On the connectivity side, the Lancet supports XLTE.

LG G Pad X to come to Verizon this month's end

Verizon is preparing to replace its LG G Pad 8.3 with a new LG tablet dubbed the LG G Pad X. Inspired by the G Pad 8.3's design, the G Pad X features a brushed aluminum back panel with a dual speaker setup. The tablet will support LTE and judging from the looks of the screen, its resolution could be higher than that of the G Pad 8.3. The tablet could be announced on May 28th in New York as the weather info on the screen indicates.

LG G4 Mini appears in Vodafone's database

The smaller version of the LG G4, the G4 Mini, has appeared in Vodafone's database in Hungary. The carrier listed the device in its 'M' category, which indicates mid-range segment. Previously, the G4 Mini was said to come with entry-level specs in Europe, but the new specs sheet from Vodafone puts the device in the mid-range segment.

According to sources close to Vodafone, the LG G4 Mini is expected to feature a 5-inch 720p display, 64-bit Snapdragon 615 chipset, 2 GB of RAM, 13-megapixel rear camera without OIS, 5-megapixel front camera, NFC support and Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box. The G4 Mini will be released some time in June and there may be a leather-clad variant too.

LG G4 supports Quick Charge 2.0, according to LG

LG has released a new statement saying that its flagship smartphone, the G4, supports Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0. While the Korean manufacturer made no claims about the feature at the launch of the G4, its new statement stipulates that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 in the G4 comes with the feature built-in. That is, if you use a Quick Charge enabled adapter on your G4, it will go from zero to 60% in just 30 minutes.

However, LG didn't include a Quick Charge enabled adapter in the retail box of the G4 because the company thinks a second battery is what you need, since the G4 comes with a user removable and replaceable battery. As LG puts it, "At the end of the day, we see Quick Charge as a nice-to-have, not a must-have, since we offer a replacement battery. This is what we'll continue to focus on." If you still want to use Quick Charge, you can always purchase the adapter separately.

LG G4 with dual-SIM support revealed in leaked photos

Images of LG's upcoming flagship device, the G4, were seen in Iran, showing all the curves and shapes of the phone, including the leather and plastic models. However, an icon on the bottom of the screen in one of the pictures spilled the beans about a possible dual-SIM version of the smartphone. LG will unveil the G4 on April 28th in an event in New York City, after which will'll find out whether the dual will be available world wide.

Specs

The G4 has a 5.5-inch display with resolution of 1440 x 2560, which amounts to a pixel density of 534ppi. It has a 64-bit hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor, Adreno 418 GPU and 3GB of RAM under the hood. Unlike other high-end Andriod devices, the G4 has a microSD card slot that can handle up to 128 GB of external storage. There's a 8-megapixel selfie camera, and a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture. A 3000mAh battery provides power for the device. And Android 5.0 Lollipop will be pre-installed.
